Woodpecker needed a landing page that would immediately prompt people to take notice of this apps innovative language learning features. The challenge was creating a simple on-brand design that looked good with ten different languages, including the prominent call to action. All this while needing to be optimized for search engine ranking.
The key was to ensure that the branding and styles across Woodpeckers web site and app were consistent. We brought everything back into line with their internal style guide and opted for a clean and minimal flat design.
A key concern for Woodpecker was getting people to download the app. We used a prominent call to action to bring peoples attention to the apps purpose, above the two app download buttons.
We used additional style classes to scale text where certain languages resulted in longer or shorter strings to ensure the size of the page remained consistent. The Woodpecker red was used as a highlight color to bring attention to certain words, sections and buttons.
The result is a clean and easily-readable responsive design that is perfect for introducing this innovative language learning tool.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION
We implemented a proper sitemap and added appropriate language meta tags to the site to ensure that search engine performance was as good as it could be.
The blog section of the site was already set up with a makeshift multi language system, so we had to write a custom WordPress plugin to enable proper language tags pointing to the alternate versions of each post.
